I am on mat leave and I am due back to work April the 2nd and I have decided not to go back to work due to my mental state I wanted to know if my universal credit going to be sanctioned and wanted to know if I need to speak to my doctor about this to get a letter for universal credit?

You won’t have work focused interviews until your child is 2, you won’t be expected to work until your child is 3. You’re fine

You don't need to work until your youngest is 3

They'll get you ready for work at 2

And will expect you to work when 3

(Unless you get disability benefits within UC and have work commitments turned off)

As others have said this is fine to do and you don’t have to work till
your child is 3. Do what you need to to help your mental health and I hope you are feeling better soon

Once your child is 2 you might be asked to do stuff to get ready for needing to work from 3 onwards but that's a while off.

The meetings start at 1 year old but every three months then go monthly when little one is three is the build up to returning to work. You will have no commitments until they are one and then just work preparation meetings.
