MFI are bastards

My Mum and Dad have recently had a new bathroom installed with one of these shower heads that pull from out of the bath.

The only problem is, is that the shower head is the wrong end of the bath (at the foot end) and does not pull out long enough to even wash your damn feet. My MUm is now using a jug to wash her hair. (after paying an extortionate amount of money for a brand new bathroom)

When explaining this to MFI, the manager has said that the only thing he can do is put an extension hose on the coil and my Mum and Dad will have to sign a disclaimer saying that if this leaks then its not MFI's problem.

Surely, this is a design fault or the fitters are at fault for not asking where to put the bloody thing and MFI should supply them with a whole new bath with the shower head in the correct place.

Has anybody else had problems with them? Any suggestions on where to go next?

Oh yes, not as bad as this, but when I posted (regarding their poor service over delivering a bed) lots of people responded. Search for MFI it's in the thread title. Someone quoted some consumer legislation, can't remember what. I've always found the Citizen's Advice Bureau very good. I found my problem was resolved, more or less, when I asked to speak to someone further up the chain. Maybe your Mum could try that first. Good luck.

official complaints policy - i looked n google and there is a furniture ombudsman - but i can't find their website

i would also urge you to post on

www.moneysavingexpert.com

they will give advice - and know practically everything!

Tortington · 11/05/2008 21:29

i mean ask for their oficial complaints policy and procedure.

nothing gets done unless its official - and remember to always say " can i take your name " this shits them up

bathroomproblems · 11/05/2008 21:30

I think that is their next plan. To start trying to scare the manager with threats of trading standards blah blah.
I just feel for them as they expected to end up with the bathroom of their dreams and end My Mum is wahing her hair with a jug.
I want to walk in and punch the manager very hard.
Thanks for that, I will search the threads.

We had big problems with MFI. I complained and they didn't give a sh*t. Neither did their head office or anyone else. I just haven't been back there- and won't ever.

No, the taps are in the middle and the shower head is at the foot end.

Thanks for all this advice, I will show my Mum all this in the morning.

sorry this might be a stupid question - but if the taps are in the middle why does it matter which end the shower attachment is on? Why don't your Mum amd Dad just sit the opposite way round in the bath??

bathroomproblems · 12/05/2008 20:35

because the other end of the bath has got a fitted unit with a shelf hanging over it that you might bump your head on. Also, it's just not the right way to sit, if you know what I mean!

MFI = Mostly F**ing Inferior

(with apologies if it's too old a joke)

SaintGeorge · 12/05/2008 20:41

Was it MFI who measured up for and designed the kitchen and was it their in-house fitters?

If yes to all three then stand your ground and insist they replace or reposition the bath.

SaintGeorge · 12/05/2008 20:41

Kitchen? WTF? Sorry, have kitchens on the brain at the moment.

I meant bathroom obviously.

bathroomproblems · 12/05/2008 20:54

Yes, MFI measured and they contracted people in to fit and do everything. The bathroom, tiles, lights etc.

Surely the fault either lies with the lady who they sat with in MFI to design the bloody bathroom or the idiots that fitted it should have realised that your feet go that bloody end.

My dad used to say it stood for More Fucking Inconvenience. Good luck in sorting it.

bathroomproblems · 12/05/2008 20:57

Thanks!

I dont understand how there is a 'foot' end and a 'head' end of the bath when the taps are in the middle!
Would it not be easier to have the shelf moved to the opposite end so that you can face the other way instead of asking for a new bath/shower to be fitted?

bathroomproblems · 12/05/2008 21:07

It's not a shelf, it is a fitted unit that runs along the wall with the sink and the toilet fitted into it.

Anyway, have just spoken to my Mum, who has said that she sat the foot end today to wash her hair and it still doesn't pull out long enough. So it's obviously a design fault and the manager will have to come out and see it and bloody do something about it.

My Dad got in touch with trading standards today and they have advised him on what to do.

Thanks everybody for posting!
