What shall I do with a small pension pot?

I'm leaving my job for a new one. I've accumulated a small pension pot of around 8k. I'm wondering what would be the best thing to do with it. I previously have a teacher's pension and my new employers are the local council. I'm 44 years old.

If you will be joining the Local Government pension scheme then look into whether you can transfer the pot into that. It would give you additional guaranteed income, though obviously without the flexibility of keeping the pot. So you will need to weigh up the pros and cons.

I would likely transfer it unless it's index linked ... you need to get information from LGPS website on transferring. You only have a limited time (I think 6 months from employment start date) to do it.

Thank you both. That's really good advice ☺️
