Do standing orders go out on a Sunday?

I set a new monthly standing order up to run on the 2nd each month. It's to a small business for rent. Despite being scheduled and all correct, the amount hasn't left my account today. Is this because it won't run on a Sunday?

Google answered my own question

No, standing orders do not go out on weekends; they are only processed on working days, so if your standing order is scheduled for a weekend, it will be processed on the next working day.

It'll go out on the next working day, so tomorrow in this case.

It will likely come out tomorrow.
Or you could do a one off payment using the faster payments system and it would go through today.

It goes the following working day. On the other side, payments going in that are due on a weekend or bank holiday, should go in the working day before.
I take payments from businesses by standing order on the 1st of the month and their contract states that if that date is a weekend or bank holiday, they will pay the next working day. Does yours not say that?

Nope....much to my son's disgust. His allowance goes in on the 1st. Except it didn't.

Best to set the standing order for 3 or 4 days before the payment is due. That way you'll be sure the money is in the relevant account by the agreed date.

This is something that's always puzzled me.

It's all automated so why don't SOs move at weekends? It's not like banks need someone in work to press a button I wouldn't have thought.

Depends on the bank. I have had two standing orders go out today from my current account with Kroo.
