HMRC HELP Please

I paid my tax via my Government Gateway account on Wednesday (NatWest account), but it's still not showing on my credits. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to be reflected as I'm worried about being charged interest 🤔 Thanks in advance.

It can take a few days. If they do charge you any interest I would phone up and have bank statements showing you did pay ahead of time.

You should have an email from HMRC acknowledging the payment , it says that it takes 3-5 days to show on your online account but it’s the payment date that counts not the date it shows online

if your payment defiantly went through on Wednesday you’ll be fine :)

In the email I received from HMRC when I paid it said the payment will be complete as soon as the money leaves your account but will take 3-5 working days to show on the system.

I always leave until the last minute to pay. I'd rather accrue the interest myself!

I’m in a similar position - I made my payment on 28 January 2025, received the email confirmation and it even says on my account that the payment was received. However, it’s still the amount is outstanding and it looks likes it’s adding interest (it was quite a substantial sum). Will this interest be refunded?

@Rispa42 are you sure it's adding interest? or has it credited your account with interest because you paid 3 days early. Mine did this.The credit appeared a couple of days before the payment.

Thanks @Spacie - pretty sure it’s adding as it’s about £3 more than what I was originally meant to pay (and have paid).

I've been trying to contact them for 3 days, to no avail!!
