Financial ombudsman

Currently have a complaint being looked at by the financial ombudsman. The company have rejected the initial investigators findings which were in my favour and it's now going to an ombudsman for a final decision.

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience of this and whether it's likely the ombudsman will also find in my favour. I was expecting the company to reject the initial findings as they have nothing to lose in doing this.

I don't see how anyone can predict if they will find in your favour without any information.

I was just wondering what other people's experience was of the financial ombudsman service. I wasn't looking for advice on whether my case would be successful.

It really could go either way...I've seen cases where the original outcome was upheld in full, upheld in part or completely disregarded by the Ombudsman.

The company concerned won't 'just' have rejected the original findings. They'll have had to explain their reason for doing so and will likely have provided additional evidence to support their position. The Ombudsman will review the case, the original decision and any further submissions from the Company.

I had a case against Santander 10+ years ago. They had offered me a small amount of compensation which I took to mean acceptance of fault on their part. I took it to the ombudsman and got a significant award of compensation and refund of fees.
