Nightmare with Debenhams!

I bought two items from Debenhams. After buying I realised that one of the items was unsuitable so I tried to cancel.

Was informed by customer service that I could not cancel but there were free returns. I accepted the item and arranged the return only to be told there was a £40 charge.

I complained and said that I wasn't informed of the return cost and was not prepared to pay it. They said I have to.

The second problem is that they sent me a package but the courier didn't inform me the item was either on its way or had been delivered. They showed me a photo of the package outside the door.

The item was obviously stolen. I asked Debenhams to resend the item but they sent me a PDF from the courier and asked me to sign it. I don't have a printer so can't sign it.

I tried to contact the courier company to see if there's an online form but have no reference number as I wasn't given one.

As far as I'm aware, the company is responsible for the package being delivered and they're meant to sort it out with the courier.

Any advice? I've emailed a letter of complaint but had no response.

Don’t you know anyone with a printer?

Libraries all have computers and printers, and the staff are usually very happy to help.

Screenshot the form and sign it on your phone? They only need a scribble

I can't get access to a printer. I don't have a printer, I don't know anyone nearby with a printer, I can't get to a library.

Open up the PDF on your computer and then sign it electronically. Adobe offer an electronic signature option or convert it into Word and do it that way. Then email it back to them.

I'll give that a go, many thanks.

I've also been caught out with Debenhams (that's not really Debenhams anymore - just a marketplace).
I won't be using them again. It's easy to have 'free postage' then no mention whatsoever of a return fee and their system to even track the refund is non-existent!
I had to email a 'Gmail.com' email address to arrange a return with one of the items I returned and then had to chase my refund for 3 weeks before even receiving a response. Really poor service

I bought chairs from Debenhams - delivered to wrong address. They wouldn't take responsibility for it as they said even though I bought via Debenhams they weren't the seller.

Chairs turned up a few streets away a month later after being left outside - residents only found them when they got back from Homs

Told Debenhams who told me to return - they'd been in the rain hurt a month so impossible really. I had no refund and no one would take responsibility

Debenhams are awful

Yes they're possibly one of the worst companies I've dealt with.

I contacted Citizens Advice Consumer helpline today and they said I have a case. I also opened a case with PayPal and am waiting for a response from my complaint.

They took away the headboard today and told me to wait until the 27th to hear from the other company.

I never got mine back

They sound exacyline house of Fraser. More effort than it's worth. Avoid in future. I will

I got my money back and they didn't charge for collection of the headboard.

Go to chat and tell them your parcel was stolen or not delivered. Fill out a form and sign it and they refund the money. The form is from the courier.
