I bought two items from Debenhams. After buying I realised that one of the items was unsuitable so I tried to cancel.
Was informed by customer service that I could not cancel but there were free returns. I accepted the item and arranged the return only to be told there was a £40 charge.
I complained and said that I wasn't informed of the return cost and was not prepared to pay it. They said I have to.
The second problem is that they sent me a package but the courier didn't inform me the item was either on its way or had been delivered. They showed me a photo of the package outside the door.
The item was obviously stolen. I asked Debenhams to resend the item but they sent me a PDF from the courier and asked me to sign it. I don't have a printer so can't sign it.
I tried to contact the courier company to see if there's an online form but have no reference number as I wasn't given one.
As far as I'm aware, the company is responsible for the package being delivered and they're meant to sort it out with the courier.
Any advice? I've emailed a letter of complaint but had no response.
