Hello, looking for some advice please! Newly separated, 50:50 childcare split therefore no maintenance payments from ex. I’ve applied for UC as only work 4 days. If my ex helps out with some money towards bills etc do I need to declare it? I’m wondering if it’s classed as unearned income? What about if I said it was unofficial maintenance/money for our children? Thanks!

Well it is child maintenance isn't it you just aren't going through official channels.

It’s child maintenance really, it doesn’t need to be ‘official’, child maintenance doesn’t count as earnings

Child maintenance isn't taken into account anymore fir benefits
