Universal Credit childcare

We have an almost 3yo in nursery and get UC for childcare costs. He’s now fractured his leg and will be in a cast for minimum of 3 weeks. Because of his increased need for assistance and support the nursery can’t adequately support him whilst ensuring they’re within ratios for the other children. I’m wondering if we could get a nanny or some assistant for the three weeks for him who would help the nursery staff during his sessions, but could we claim for this extra cost through UC in addition to claiming nursery fees?

I have a meeting with the nursery on Monday to discuss which sessions they might be able to accommodate but I imagine it’ll be very limited. I don’t want to send him in full time regardless but I also worry that if we keep him home for what would be at least 4 weeks (he’s already missed this week, cast was put on yesterday) it would be a difficult transition to go back.

There is a maximum amount you cam claim for childcare in a month.

There's no way of busting that but if you're claiming less there may be some wiggle room.
