Help me please 🙏 Am having to reapply for UC as OH forgot to sign in last month and accept his commitments. I was so upset as it means having to go through the application process again which I found agonising. I immediately started to reapply in my fury and I started the application on his phone. Anyway, I've done it in such a way that it is now saying the payment will goes to his bank account, but it needs to go to mine. There seems to be no way of changing this. I spoke to the helpline who told me you are able to change it once you have completed all of the sections before you submit it. But the only thing it will allow me to change is the amount in our bank accounts, and not the account details. I swear the system is designed to frustrate people so much that they either give up or have a breakdown. I saw somewhere that it said if you haven't completed the application within 28 days you have to restart. Well I've left it that long and it's still bloody there and I still can't change it. Can anyone help 😫

Just complete the sections then make the change afterwards on the phone or via journal. You won't get a payment for approx 5 weeks anyway unless you are wanting to take an advance.

Miley1967, I didn't think changes could be made over the phone Im pretty sure the phone number is just a helpline for advice. The person I spoke to didn't offer to amend anything for me just told me to make the changes

The main thing is get the application in. You can change pretty much anything once it's set up. Either by making a change of circumstance request or via your journal. But you don't start being entitled to any money until you've submitted your application. As pp said you don't get paid for 5 weeks so you have plenty of time to update the bank details. Just get the application in!!!

I assume there was no good reason why your partner didn't accept his commitments?

Most things can be done on the journal but some people need to make changes by phone as not everyone has a journal so it can be done.

No there's no good reason he didn't accept his commitments, he just forgot. It's basically down to me to remind him / log in on his behalf and with Christmas and birthdays last month we missed the deadline, and was advised that reapplying was the best option.

Thanks for your advice, I'll just get the application in. It's just such a ball ache 🙄😅

click ‘report a change’ then ‘bank account’ . Then change them. As its a jount claim your partner will need to log in to his side and conplete the ‘confirm bank details’ once you’ve done your report :)

We had to change the bank our payment went into. It went into dp's the first month. I was able to change the details via the portal. I think I was asked to go to a face to face meeting to confirm but can't 100% remember.

Is that after I've completed all the sections and submitted it? As it won't allow me to do that at the moment

Yes,

Just complete what you’ve done so far.
Complete the claim so all to do’s on both yours and your partners claim are done.

Then go back to homepage-report a change of circumstances-bank account.
