Pip - capita assessment issues

I had a Pip review recently which was a shambles. Capita cancelled my first telephone assessment the night before, the second the assessor kept ringing my old number and didn't get through, the third the assessor left out lots of information and was inconsistent. This led to a reduced award.

I sent a complaint to Capita and following their investigation they agreed that the assessor report was inconsistent and apologised for the previous two non appointments. They gave me £130 as a good will gesture for the upset. They also have now recalled my claim back from DWP for reassessment. They rang me to inform me and I literally had a huge meltdown on the phone as said I couldn't go through another right now. They said they would do a paper assessment instead as I was so distressed.

I would be grateful if anyone who may have had a similar experience with complainting etc and what was the outcome.

I am on pins waiting now to see what will happen next. I sent lots of evidence with my claim so baffled why they reduced it. Fingers crossed I will get my original award back after the latest assessment.

I have a feeling that a paper assessment can’t reduce your award but I’d need to check that

Have you had a formal decision letter and asked for a Mandatory Reconsideration?

Was informing that process the purpose of the call today?

If the DWP cannot get it right then your next step is the Tribunal which independent and chaired by a Judge.

I have but Capita had recalled my claim back to them for reassessment following my complaint. DWP told me today to now ignore the award letter I was sent last week and awIt outcome of new assessment. Total farce.

Sort of farce but if they're looking at it again there's hope.

I had my first assessment in 7 years last month - it was awful! The assessor knew nothing about my very common medical condition which is physically very debilitating. She argued with me for half an hour about how far I could walk. I sent letters and reports from 5 specialists all confirming what I said.

I have not had my award back yet, but they also tried to ask me to do another assessment which I declined. They had to use all the paper based evidence I sent which looking at the PA4 seems to have given a much better outcome. The original assessor gave me no points anywhere despite being on HRC and LRM for the last 7 years.

I'm waiting for my award notice and then if I have the energy I will submit a complaint against the assessor. If I need to go through MR I might not have both the energy or mental capacity to submit a complaint.
