Paid many thousands into solictor's account by debit card last Friday for exchange on Fri...

If you made the payment last Friday the money should have left your account on Monday at the latest, so something has gone wrong. jj's advice sounds good, assuming everything else is going ahead as planned.

Huge cock up by solicitor's accounts dept and bank. Huge. They FINALLY this morning realised that the payment hadn't been acted on, and initiated a 5 day BACS transfer. doh. persistant calling ALL MORNING and lots of cold sweats has, i think, sorted out. but we won't know til tomorrow morning when we are due to move. feel sick.
