carers element and dla element

hi i am carer for my partner i and i support my son who has autism and is on middle rate dla
however we dont get carers element or disability element, how to get this added to UC ? ive been carer for 2 years and my son diagnosed and dla paid for 1 year. but not element been added to UC ?

You need to report it as a change of circumstances and write on your journal.

I'd call universal credit tomorrow and let them explain what you need to do, they can talk you through it. You may be entitled to backpay however this isn't guaranteed. It'll go to a decision maker to decide.

When the DLA was awarded you should have updated the Children & Other People section.

You need the Start Date of your Child's DLA award then you do the following:

Home - Report a change - Children & Other People

Input Date of Change as start date of Child's DLA award

Click "change" next to the Child's name and re-enter their details, ticking Yes to the box about DLA.

Once you've submitted this, you need to send a Journal message asking for Disabled Child Element to be backdated to start of the DLA award.
