Housing benefit

Apologies if this has been raised before. If I were to move into a rented house or flat, would I be eligible for HB towards the cost of the rent and how do I go about claiming it - before or after I sign the tenancy? I'm not on IS or any mean-tested benefits but I do get WTC etc.

I really don't know how this stuff works

ou only get HB if you are entitled to it

try entitledto.com

the housing oficer will help you fill in the forms upon signing the tenancy if you are entitled.

No I'm not selling and I'm prepared to pay the full rent if it comes to it - just wondered what the procedure would be to find out my eligility. Apparently I'd be entitled to 2 bedrooms.
