No judgement please, I took out an argos credit card last year to help pay for xmas presents, I need to pay it off by January and I haven’t paid it off fully yet. If I paid the remaining all in one go this month can I use it instantly again to buy xmas presents and then get another year to pay it off again? Someone told me they could close my account if I do that? Not sure why they would close my account if I pay it all off before January? Just wondering if that would mean I get another year again and it restarts? (No judgment I am a single parent and I don’t get maintenance so financially I struggle and I’m also the only person that buys xmas presents for my children/no family)

Was it the 12 months interest free?

If so then you’d have to apply to get another 12 months interest free.

Depends if they are still offering the deal on new purchases or whether it was an introductory offer when you took the card out

If you only had 12 months interest free (assuming thats what it is) then you need to apply for that again if they still offer it. Paying it off in full doesn’t automatically mean that you can get the same deal and use it again, get in touch with them.

From this it suggests that different spending amounts attract different interest free offers. 12 months interest free seems to apply to a single item over £499 rather than the basket spends that offer shorter interest free periods

Yes I just checked and this seems to be their current offer.

So for baskets over £199 you can get 6 months interest free but if you don’t pay that within 6 months interest is added and is backdated to date of purchase, with a 34% rate that will add up quickly.

Does it have to be Argos OP? I’m sure Martin Lewis was saying Very do a buy now pay later with pay in 3 I think it was. Or look for an 12 months 0% credit card then you can use it and have the 12 months to pay it off?

Yes it has to be argos as I have to pay this off anyway which is difficult at this time of year as I also need to buy presents so may as well pay it off and use it again. Also as I can use it again as soon as I’ve paid that’s fine.

You can’t use it again in the same way though OP that’s the thing. You got 12 months 0% interest, they aren’t offering that deal now.

I have an Argos card and once you clear the balance before it’s due, you can take out another buy now, pay later plan as long as you spend over the required amount

As has been mentioned above, and as you have confirmed, OP needs to apply for another deal OF THOSE AVAILABLE and currently the only 12 month free is on a single product over £499. The other option is 6 months free if basket over £199- the 12 month deal isn’t available now.

And as you’ve said, the 12 month option is available if she wants to buy one singular item that’s extremely expensive. Not sure why you’re shouting, bye

Presents plural. So yeah, if OP is buying 1 present over £499+ then yes. But if as stated in OP they want to buy multiple presents and have a year to pay it off then the answer is no.

Yes I've bought various things on my Argos card and bought something else.
They don't always offer interest free or delayed payments though.

I've had two or three things at once with different dates.

There is no guarantee they won't reduce the credit limit in the account, lenders can do this at any time. That said, unless they have reason to, it's unlikely to happen

I’ve never had an Argos card but won’t they just start charging you monthly payments with interest added on if you don’t pay within the 12 months?
