Hey

So I tried this on aibu but didn't get much response.

So I lost my job 2 weeks ago. Dh works full time and is paid just above minimum wage.

I'm pregnant and have 2 ds.

My head is all over the place and was wondering if anyone could answer these questions.

Can I still claim any maternity pay?

Further down the line if I manage to get a job(any will do) if I pay childcare for baby (3rd child) can I claim it back?

If I don't find work someone had told me I can state I'm the main carer for baby and wouldn't need to find a job till they're 3. Is this true? (This is absolutely the last resort)

And lastly can I claim scottish child payment for 3 children or is this also capped?

I have tried running through turn2us but I'm still so confused.

Thanks x

It's maternity allowance you need to look into. Since you can't get smp now.

Regarding claiming back your childcare costs, this will depend on how much you're working and how much your household income will be. If you're planning to stay off for the first 9 months then I think you've got plenty of time to work it out.

And sorry, I'm not sure about your other questions.

If you're eligible for Universal Credit you will have no Work Related Requirements for the baby's first year. After that you'll be placed in groups that require you do be doing things towards getting back into the Labour market.

After the youngest is three you'll be expected to be available for and ready to take work.

The two child cap doesn’t apply to Scottish child payment so this new baby would be eligible.
