My parents died 3 years ago. Went through their stuff and found an old savings book with small amount of money in it from 2006. Do you think i could withdraw the money (through the lawyer of course) or would it be closed (or dormant)

It’ll be dormant, and the funds are put in a holding account. You can contact the bank and provide proof etc. I think there’s also a site online that searches for old and any bank accounts too but can’t for the life of me remember it’s name right now sorry!

Accounts with a balance stay open for 15 years from its last use. Contact the bank and see what is going on. Most likely they will need to see the death certificate before they can tell you anything
