True disposable income

After seeing many posts about this in here it got me thinking about my money, I thought that about 1k disposable but a financial deep dive shows that I actually have £600 when r try single expense it accounted for. I’d missed off things such as parking, haircuts, birthdays, prescriptions etc

So for me £600 is truly disposable. I’m a single mum of one teen earning 40k a year. 70k mortgage, small car finance commitment and a few grand on 0%. 4K in savings.

how do I compare?

Compare to what? Or who? Sounds great to me - £7200 a year.

disposable income doesn't include food, haircuts, birthdays, parking prescriptions.
disposable income is remaining to live off after bills

I would count parking, haircuts, birthdays as part of your disposable income.

If I needed to pay for parking for work I’d include it as a monthly bill, but I agree I’d include birthdays and haircuts as disposable income - they’re things that are nice to have, but not essential spending like household bills.

I would class them as expenses & include them as part of my budget. To my disposable income is left over for coffees/sushi/random days out/random stuff

29k a year. I give myself £600 after bills, savings, food etc. Just us two no kids and i work full time so it’s plenty. I never spend it all😂
I count haircuts every 3/4 months, gifts and bus fare ( don’t drive) in my disposable though. Christmas is saved for.
