Maternity pay - 52 weeks

Hi.
I opted to take my Maternity pay over 52 weeks but having had a look at our financial situation will likely return after 10 months.
My maternity pay breakdown has already been processed - would I still receive the last 2 months of pay even when I return to work earlier than 12 months? Or do I need to try and change this with payroll to get maternity pay over less weeks?

If you hadn't opted to stretch it over 12 months, what would you have been paid for the 10 months? They will need to ensure you get that money. It might mean a little lump sum (if your work policy is zero or reduced [compared to the rest of maternity pay] income in months 11 and 12). I would check your policy closely and find out how much notice you have to give about changing the end date (mine was 8 weeks) and not let them know until then, in case you change your mind! Either way, the onus is on them to ensure you get paid what you would have done if you'd not chosen to stretch it out

Would it work out better to keep the 12 months and use KIT days to top up the payment. You could work 1 day a week for the last 10 weeks (if you've not used any already)
