Bought TV from John Lewis 2021 for £2,800.
3 years later, screen shadow. Under warranty they sent their contractor to fix it. However, still some shadows and caused a buzzing noise.
same contractor came up to assess, verbally told me they can’t hear buzzing but can’t see shadow which I accepted understandably.
However, they wrote a report to John Lewis stating they did not hear any buzzing noise.
John Lewis asked me for a recording, which I sent, clearly hearing the buzzing noise. John Lewis admitted they heard an ‘abnormal’ sound on the audio I sent.
but they can’t process my refund without a VAT registered repair company. That I would need to arrange my own repair guy. If my own repair guy finds a fault, they will reimburse call out cost.
i am furious about that appointed contractor. They said verbally in person to me ‘that these faults noise are common in TV, and it’s a fault in the coil”
then now not admitting they heard it. I raised a major issue of conflict of interest and poor ethics to falsify an assessment.
John Lewis insist that I get my own repair guy.
Firstly I want to get a refund. After I get that , I want to nail them, especially for lying about not hearing it. They are lying because after they fixed it, the issue arised. It was never there before!
what can I do to make them responsible for it? I looked into reporting to trading standards.
