yesssssssssss

i wrote to barclays and they got it just after they decided to have a test case, apparently i will be referred to after the outcome...i might wright again after all

oh yes!! i can pay off some crippling debt!!

LaComtesse · 24/04/2008 16:33

I might be being dumb but I can't see who wins here. If the banks had won, they'd have carte blanche to charge what they wanted..... if the OFT/customers win then the banks will repay the charges but then will seek to recoup them elsewhere so we'll get stung elewhere. I'm not sure about it all. Still, it'd be nice to get a lump sum right now .

RTKangaMummy · 24/04/2008 17:53

The payments are our money and so they are only giving back wahat they have taken and so the banks won't have lost the money

I think they will only give back some of it and that they will decide that the charges should be £5 a time or something like that

SparklyGothKat · 24/04/2008 17:57

how do i do this again? I got all my statements 2 years ago and was sorting it all out when we moved, and then I forgot, and they stopped all claims

RTKangaMummy · 24/04/2008 18:00

go on martin lewis website and he will help you

OP posts:
misdee · 24/04/2008 18:01

oh good. i started my claims last year but then this test5 case started so i never got round to sorting out my next stage letters. will start the process over as have incurred a few more charges since then

would be good if OFT do 'win' as it would mean i should be able to clear most, if not all, any of my outstanding debts before bump is due.

SparklyGothKat · 24/04/2008 18:02

but it can only be for the last 6 years yes?

RTKangaMummy · 24/04/2008 18:03

yes deffo the last 6 years only

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 24/04/2008 18:03

bugger, that means i have lost out on about £200..

RTKangaMummy · 24/04/2008 18:04

but it may be allowed from before the thing started if you put your letter in befroe the court thingy

OP posts:
LaComtesse · 24/04/2008 19:11

I must admit I'd like to claw back my charge from my last bank account.... bar stewards .

MerlinsBeard · 24/04/2008 20:18

I haven;t yet seen a news report on this. Are the banks appealing? does that mean you can't claim while they appeal??
