I contacted Carers Allowance to cancel my CA on 13/09/24.
They have only just got around to cancelling the claim in the last week.
The letter states they are ending the claim from the day I requested (13th September).
As CA we’re behind with ending the claim, I’ve still received some payments. UC are taking these off my statement but I’m also being told the overpayments will be recovered alongside other DWP debt I have.
This means I’m having the money taken off my UC and having to repay it through overpayments?
How is this right or fair? Does anyone know how I can correct this?
UC tell me they can see the end date as 13/09 but further weekly payments were made meaning I was still ‘in receipt’ of the benefit so they are still deducting it?
