Credit score 'excellent' but can't get £5k bank loan

As the title suggests, I’m having trouble securing a 5-6% bank loan, and I’m wondering if my ongoing remortgage might be the reason. I’m facing a short-term cash flow issue but expect things to improve in about four weeks. I need to raise about £3k to keep the lights on in the meantime, but I want to avoid options like credit card cash advances. Any ideas? I know the obvious option is Mum/Dad but my step mom guards by Dad's finances and will say no, and I don't want to ask my mum as she's already been very generous and i feel ashamed.

Used to work in mortgages . If you’re doing a remortgage I wouldn’t be applying for any loans/credit cards /credit . It will go against you

Thanks, I got the mortgage offer, but still, I'm a bit screwed until my remortgage comes through
