Need to make money by end of October - what can I do?

Hi everyone, I had to give up my job to deal with the MH crisis of my child. I had some savings which we’ve used to live on alongside DH’s salary.

Everything’s been more expensive than we budgeted for (counsellors etc) so I need to make £600-£1000 by the end of October to cover expenses. I start a new job at that point so will be paid in November.
Can anyone suggest options? Websites?
I’m looking at temp work and so on but I can’t do FT work out of the house every day (because of caring responsibilities).

Would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks.

Cleaning. Can get £20 p h if you’re on time, stay for the time requested and do a really good job.

Have you got stuff you could sell on Vinted? Anything from a good brand in good condition seems to sell quite easily.

Another thought is that mature experienced babysitters around here (SE) are commanding £10-15ph. Once the child is in bed you could do life admin/paid surveys etc. so although the hourly rate isn't massive you'd likely be able to use some of the time for other stuff too.

Have a clearout and do a carboot sale ??

Can you start the job you were intending to start in November any earlier? Many employers will be delighted if someone can start earlier.

So, I'm ready for Vinted tomorrow, have applied for a few cleaning and admin jobs as well!

@GOODCAT can't start early unfortunately!

Thanks for the help everyone, still grateful for any suggestions.

Do at least one bank switch - that’s easy money just for transferring a bank account. There’s a very helpful section on moneysavingexpert.

There also used to be a thread called something like ‘make £10 a day’ you could look at for ideas.

Switch bank accounts to either first direct or nationwide with £175 cash back. As long as you make sure you meet the criteria immediately then the money should come through in time

Jeezitneverends · 29/09/2024 19:47

Nationwide are doing £175 right now

Brilliant. Thank you!

Do you have a student loan? If so, go on your account and see if you're due a refund for overpayment - I've got £300 back
