Universal credit after separation

Can anyone who has applied for UC after separation advise what to do? Husband has moved out but still paying half mortgage and bills as unable to afford by myself. UC calculator tells me I can claim around £300 a month for the child element I believe. I already have a separate account where CB goes. Do I need to do anything else to prove we are separated given we have to keep joint account?

If he's moved out then you're single for UC purposes.

If you can avoid a joint account life will be easier.

I don't think splitting the mortgage is a problem but the bills might raise flags.

Do you have children?

Yes have two and that’s why I am staying in the house at the moment with them. Bills are joint as I don’t earn enough and he’s paying half of everything to maintain house for kids.
