Car MOT

Help! Just realised car needs MOT'ing. If it says on the certificate that it expires on 20th April does that mean it's still OK to drive tomorrow and that it is un MOT'd as of 21st? Or does it run out today?

Ithink it's midnight on 19th it runs out. Don't worry... just book it in for one day next week. Last year I thought mine ran out on the last day of June, but when I got the paperwork out, found it was 9th June.

It is unlikely a day or two will cause you problems, unless you need the MOT certificate to go buy road tax or something.

It's OK to do anything in it EXCEPT HAVE AN ACCIDENT! If you do your insurance is invalidated.

If you can avoid it, don't use it until you can get it to an MOT station - I think that if you had an accident en route and it was booked in you'd be OK.

you can drive it till minight on 20th but you can drive it to a mot station after that date

Naughty naughty Wendy

It is illegal to drive without a valid MOT. You can only drive it to and from the testing centre if you have a pre-booked appointment for the test itself or any required repair work.

Well that's what I meant really, StG

(ie you're OK unless you get caught )
