Scam

WalkInAStraightLine · 06/08/2024 19:10

Yes of course it's a scam!

Didsomeonesaydogs · 06/08/2024 19:15

If you’re concerned, Google the name of the company and ring them. I had something similar last week (Link Financial late payment) and they had my number listed for somebody who had defaulted.

As soon as I told them my name they said that wasn’t the name they had listed for my number and removed it from their records.

Monnerz · 06/08/2024 19:17

What makes you think it is 100%?

OP posts:
titchy · 06/08/2024 19:21

Do you owe money? Have you had a court summons? Why would you think it's legit?

invisiblecat · 06/08/2024 19:26

Of course it is a scam. Just ignore it.

Has anyone been chasing you for an unpaid bill, sent reminders, and a final demand? Have they then said pay up or we will hand the debt over to a debt collection agency? Because that is the legal process that has to be followed before any debt collector can start demanding payment from you.

Besides, if they were going to come to your home address, they aren't going to be daft enough to tip you off that they are coming!

If you do have unpaid debts, then you need to sort them out, but not by falling for a scam like this.

dodobookends · 06/08/2024 19:32

If that was a legitimate business it would immediately come up with their name and address if you searched on the phone number.

It doesn't. Google is uncharacteristically silent on that number.

I also searched for that business name on the Companies House website. There is no such company.

Bromptotoo · 06/08/2024 20:17

Have you had correspondence about parking infringements from either a Council or Private Landowner?

Overdales are a 'legit' set of debt collectors:

https://overdales.com/contact-us/

Whether this is genuine or not is a different question.

MargotMoon · 06/08/2024 20:50

Overdales are the litigation department for a legitimate debt collection agency, one of the biggest in the UK (Lowell). Ring them and quote the number, or they may issue a court claim.

Monnerz · 06/08/2024 19:17

What makes you think it is 100%?

There is no name or any details of the person they're trying to reach.
If they were going to attempt to contact a person, they would include that.

3CustardCreams · 06/08/2024 21:23

100% scam. Do not reply.

3CustardCreams · 06/08/2024 21:23

100% scam. Do not reply.

I'd say may or may not be a scam; check it out by calling Overdales but not by using the number in the message.

3CustardCreams · 06/08/2024 21:45

Question is are you in arrears? Even if you are it is such a lengthy process to be able to evict a tenant. Can take up to a year or more

Doggymummar · 06/08/2024 21:47

Call them and see?

Monnerz · 06/08/2024 22:18

Where does it say anything about evicting a tenant?

That's Overdales with an S. OP's text refers to OVERDALE ENFORCEMENT, no S. Scam for sure.

@Monnerz Different phone number, but see here: https://who-called.co.uk/Number/07888325157

Not with the name it says on the OP's message, and not on that phone number.

DadJoke · 07/08/2024 14:47

The link will take you to a site where they will get your debit card or other personal details. Debt collectors don't work like this.

It's vague, impersonal and targets anyone with debts.

I would block on sight.

If you ring them do not call from the number in the text, look it up yourself and ring them, do not click through that number.

elkiedee · 11/08/2024 04:47

I'm pretty sure this is a scam. There's no reference to the company they're acting for. They are sending it out on the basis that a proportion of people they send it to have real debt that they're concerned about - if that is you, seek advice or contact the organisation concerned. Don't respond to this.
