Declaring car off the road

If a car is taxed, but not insured, parked on a private drive way, does it need to be declared or the road? The car is for DD, who is a new driver, but it's cheaper to start insurance 21 days from now so is it legal on the driveway in the meantime?

I'm pretty sure it is. As long as it's not being driven/on a public road you don't need it insured. And it's taxed so you don't need to SORN it.

Absolutely fine, if it's more than a month it's worth sorning too but not 3 weeks

I'm pretty sure that current rules require vehicles to be insured unless they're SORN and parked off public roads etc.

AIUI it only takes a few minutes on line to give a SORN for a car so not sure I understand the three weeks thing. If it's not insured and 'decides' to catch fire you'll be up a gum tree....

You only get s refund for whole months so declaring SORN for 3-weeks means you would be out of pocket.

Parked off road on private property is perfectly fine.
Yes, if anything were to happen to it while uninsured you would be out of pocket but that is a risk you take.
