Can you claim UC and do a course?

My ds 19 has had a rollercoaster of a ride since leaving school at 16. He is also ND and has had some mental health issues, so finding a job is really hard. Anyway, he is currently coming through that and wants to get a job and sort himself out.

He is currently claiming UC and looking at basic jobs. I think he would be better off doing a course, he is obsessed with his hair and has shown an interest in barbering. There is a evening course, that runs two evenings, 6 hours altogether. Would he still be able to claim UC whilst studying? Realistically, I don't think he would be able to study and hold a part time job, but like all teens he is money motivated.
