I have a pension amount of £15,000 saved in a private pension for retirement and I put this down as savings when I applied to UC. They have taken £156 away from the first month's claim because of it, does this sound correct? I am self- employed and a single parent.

If it is still in a pension then it is not savings. You should go back to them via your journal and explain the mistake.

Now, if you are over the age of 55 and were to take that money out of your pension and put it in your bank account then you would need to inform UC that you have savings

Can you access that money now?

Thanks for your help, I will let them know it's still in a pension and see if they will discount it.
