UC entitlement help?

Hi, I’m wondering if someone clued up about Universal Credit/better at maths than me can help me out! I’m on maternity leave and entitled to UC and had a small payment last month as my pay had not yet dropped.

The entitlement we have for all elements says £1743. Husband takes home £2080, stat mat pay for 4 weeks is £736.12 (will be more as some months count 5 weeks).

I know that the £1743 will reduce by 55p for every £ earnt, does that count the statutory pay too or just my husbands salary?

is anyone able to help me work out what I will get this month please?

thank you so much in advance!

Are you both over 25, how many children do you have, and do you rent or have a mortgage?

Brokemom28 · 16/07/2024 10:31

Yes both over 25, 2 children and we rent, the housing allowance is £550

If you live with your partner and either of you are 25 or over £617.60
For your first child £287.92 (born on or after 6 April 2017)
For your second child £287.92 per child
LHA £550
Total: £1743.44

DH's earnings 2080
Your SMP £736.12
Total: £2816.12

Work allowance £404: £2816.12-£404 = £2414.12
55% deduction: £1326.66

£1743.44-£1326.66= £416.77

On a 5 week month it would be £232.74.

Thank you so much for explaining this in a way I understand!!!

When my stat pay drops to £0 for the last 3 months, will the above sum be the same do you know?

When it drops to zero, your DH will be on £2080, work allowance £404, leaving £1676. 55% reduction is £921.80.

£1743-£921.80= £821.20 UC.
