Lost Home Insurance.

I think I might not have home insurance. I know I cancelled the direct debit for the old policy when I shopped around last May (2007) but I don't know what I did next. My filing system is lamentable but I can't find any documents so I just phoned my credit card company to find out who a payment went out to and there isn't anything on there, nor can I find a payment or direct debit from my bank.

How can I find out if my house if insured?

Thanks!

Do you mean contents insurance or buildings insurance? Normally it is a condition of your mortgage to have buildings insurance etc? If you cant find evidence of a payment being made then I would presume that you may not be insured. Might be best to get a policy asap!!

Buildings and contents. That's what I thought but just wondered if there was a way of finding out for definite. I'm not usually so disorganised!

Even if I do have it it's only a month til it would be ending so I wouldn't be losing out too much.

If you have a policy then the insurance co would prob write to you about renewal etc. I would perhaps call your old company and ask them if you still have a policy with them. If not, I would get it sorted asap.
