I accidentally transferred too much money out of my account where I pay the mortgage and today the mortgage payment returned / bounced - can’t believe what a muppet I am! I’m gonna call first thing tomorrow to make the payment. Never don’t this before in 14 years of mortgage payments !!!! Am I going to end up with a massive black mark on my credit score !!! :s only just realised hence why not calling now as they are closed !

This happened to me recently on maternity leave. They sent a letter saying they would try take payment 14 days later. No impact for me, this is with Santander

Thanks that’s reassuring

A black mark? No! There are different shades of grey, as we well know ;), so a ‘late payment’ may impact your credit rating a tiny bit, but it depends on what each credit reference agencies consider a late payments. If you call to make the payment tomorrow (or pay online) it won’t get to the point of it being recorded as a late payment.

I dont know anyone who has a spotless credit record. I personally pay all my credit cards every month, am on the electoral register, have a mortgage and do all the right things and yet my credit rating is a still a few % from the top mark 🤷‍♀️. That being said, i never had an issue borrowing money, getting a mortgage etc
