I took out a finance car for 5 years as I was definitely manipulated and black mailed into doing so. The car is 500 a month and is soly in my name. I have split with my partner and am now lumbered with the car. I do not want to press chargers on this person for the control and abuse but do you think there is any way of me getting out of the finance if I explained?

You can ask to return the car and hope it breaks even.

I would think very unlikely without supporting evidence from maybe police, a dv charity or advisor. Nothing ro stop you setting out the circumstances to them in writing and asking. How long have you had the car? I think it's if you have paid over 50%of the total cost you can terminate the agreement.

Speak to a debt advisor at citizens advice.

How much is the car worth, how much longer have you left to pay on the finance?

You can check online how much a car is worth - just google how much is my car worth?

Have you contacted the finance company to see if you can sell the car and pay of the remaining debt without any penalties?

Will you to need a car if you get rid of the car?
