Maternity allowance deductions

Hi, I’m just wondering if anyone has had deductions taken from maternity allowance. I was in full time employment until February, and now on maternity leave and started receiving maternity allowance as of yesterday as I wasn’t with my previous employer long enough to receive SMP. I took a universal credit advance out over 3 years ago and they’ve never deducted anything from my wage the full time i have been in employment since then. I get £184 a week maternity allowance and they’re looking to deduct £64 a week from this universal credit advance over 3 years later. Has this happened to anyone? it’s barely any money as it is and losing out on £64 a week is a lot with a Baby on the way. I don’t receive any other benefits either 🤯
