eBay returns questions

Wondering if anyone can help me.
I purchased an electronic item on eBay and initially thought it didn't work. As I was going to the post office later that day, I made a return request which was accepted instantly.
Whilst I was out I bumped into someone who told me that the item wasn't broke and showed me how to get it to work.

When I got home however, I see the seller has already refunded me. I was planning on cancelling the return request but not sure what to do now.

Do I have to return it as I said I wanted to? Or can I pay the seller back for the refund they have sent?

As you can see I'm very new to all this.

Contact the seller and tell them

Contact the seller, admit your mistake, and say you would like to keep item but obviously pay for it.

as a seller, I suspect I'd be phoning ebay for advice too, though.
