Car insurance claim

I had a minor accident, the other party said it was no issue but exchanged details.

They then contacted me and asked if I'd pay rather than insurance. I said yes, that's fine.

Before anything has been arranged, my insurance contacted me to say that they've received a claim that I didn't tell them about.

What do I say? Can they cancel my insurance, refuse to pay the other party or both?

I would ring my insurance and ask . Just say as the damage was minimal the other party said they weren't pursuing a claim .
But yes they can cancel your policy as you should report an accident no matter how small regardless if you plan on claiming.
They could also be finding out if it was your car in an accident and not someone just giving your details.
