Pension advice for small, family business owner

Before we try and find the money for financial advice, we want to find out as much as possible ourselves and we are so confused! DH and I run a small business which we pay ourselves a PAYE wage and dividends from. We have never earnt enough to pay into a pension but now we are panicking and trying to work out starting one. I have small ones from previous job which I need to find details of. I don't think DH has ever received a pension through employment. I have researched NEST but don't understand if we are employed/self employed or what!! We also have a couple of people taking on odd bits of work through us on zero hours contracts (which suits them completely) so I'm not sure if that counts us as an employer by NEST's definition and therefore not eligible for their self employed pension. Any other small business owners in a similar situation found a pension to pay into?

Thanks
