How to celebrate ten year anniversary when skint?!

DH and I have our 10 year wedding anniversary in a couple of months.

We always planned a big family holiday but life got in the way and we don't have the money for it now.

We are trying to clear our credit cards and pay for home improvements, but I really want to do something nice for our anniversary for the day (We have 2 x young DC so overnight stay not possible.) Maybe a spa day and a posh meal. But then I worry I'll regret spending the money afterwards.

Is it boring to not make a fuss? Am I overthinking things?

What did you do for your special wedding anniversary?

Honestly I wouldn't spend money you don't have. Can you offload the kids for the day? Nice lunch, afternoon sex, a movie at the cinema, whatever you fancy.

Think of something you’re both good at (or have complementary skills in) and start a little side hustle business?

That way, your 20th anniversary could be very different.

Do a “Greatest hits” compilation.

So something to remind you of each of:
Best holiday you’ve had together
Best sex you’ve had together
Best food you’ve had together
Best gift you’ve given each other (to keep it small, it can be like best chocolates/booze/toiletry gift)
Best film you’ve seen together (or best concert)
Play favourite music

That kind of thing

Just a little thing that would remind you of each.

My husband and I gave each a tin (of beans). We were brassic at the time 😀

A voucher for sexual fantasy if your choice.

Certainly don't spend money which you will regret. Save the bigger celebration for the future.

For us we would take a day off together when the children are in childcare.
Maybe get in some nice snacks, bottle of wine and watch a film. Followed by a lovely long nap.
But we still have very young children and always need sleep!

Take the day off and spend it in bed 😉

@KnickerlessParsons - they’re already skint and you’re encouraging them to add more mouths to feed! ShockGrin

For our tenth, did what we do most years, he cooked a nice meal and we shared a bottle. If the weather is nice we'll drive to our nearest beach and have fish and chips or nice pizza.

If we make it to 20th or 25th,...might do something more exciting!
