Where can I contribute or save currently?

Hi,

I lost my job back in January, have been contributing into a work place pension for the last 20 years (I do have a very old Scottish Widows private pension which I haven't contributed to for years). So since January I haven't been contributing into anything. I've been temping for the last 3 months. I can now contribute to the employment agency's pension but not sure what's happening with the temping job... it may well end next month, or the company I'm temping for may offer for a contract (in which case I'd join their pension scheme).

Not sure what to do currently.. if I go for the employment agency's pension, what happens if I leave that agency? Obviously it's best to get a permanent job and get into the company pension scheme.

Is it worth contributing back into my old Scottish Widows pension? I'm pretty crap at all this pension stuff. Or do I find another way to save some money for retirement. (I'm 58 this year so hopefully have plenty of years of work left.)

Any ideas? Thanks

If you join the temping agency one they will also contribute. If you just pay direct to your own old pension they won't. The temp job could go on several months so why not take the free money. It is easy to move your pensions all to one now once you get a permanent position. There no point giving up free money.
