First PIP application for a 16 year old

DD is 16 next week. She currently receives middle rate care DLA and lower rate mobility.

In January I sent back the form saying I would like to act as her nominee when she applies for PIP. She doesn't have the financial sense to manage this herself.

I haven't heard anything since. Should I have had the application form yet or does that arrive after she turns 16? I'm worried something has got lost in the post.

Thanks.

We got the actual PIP forms just after DDs 16th birthday. They will continue to pay DLA until a decision is made on PIP. If you contact Citizens advice they will have people that can help you fill out the forms. They will also have a crib sheet showing how many points are awarded for each category of need.

I'm just going through this with my ds. If I remember correctly he got a letter 2 weeks after his 16th birthday to apply for pip so I phoned and they asked a few questions then I received the forms a few weeks after that. If the deadline to return is shortly after you get the forms don't worry they will extend it. I sent it recorded delivery on a Tues and got a text message to say it had been received.
If you are sending evidence I would start getting it together then it's all ready to go.
Good luck.

DS was 16 last June. We finally received the forms in October we received a visit shortly after the forms arrived the guy spoke to DS and myself about being an appointee and what it meant.

In our case there was no assessment required and we received our first payment in January.

Thanks everyone. So it should arrive after she turns 16.

I've already made contact with Citizens Advice and I will now start wading through all the evidence paperwork we have to get copies ready.
