UC child verification

Hi! I'm putting my newborn into my UC account, I only have the short form of her birth certificate to hand as her birth father has had to send her birth certificate to his work to claim for her in his military pay. This can take between 8-9 weeks to be returned to him. I understand I'll have to attend the job centre to give something to verify my baby, will they accept the short form as it has a system number or is there anything else I can take along?
Thanks in advance!

Do you only have 1 copy of the birth certificate?

OurChristmasMiracle · 17/05/2024 19:23

They accepted my son’s red book so short certificate should be fine. They just need to see you Child and your name so that your child exists and your their parent.

you could and maybe should order a couple more copies because they are useful for these circumstances

They should accept just red book and also take yours and baby's discharge letters from hospital that's all I had at the time as it was a while before I could get DD registered.

They accepted my baby's red book but said that I could use her hospital band if I wanted to

@OurChristmasMiracle @strawberrypuds @WooYa oh okay lovely! So do they not have to put the birth certificate into the system? They just have to verify they've seen proof of baby? Xx

Yeah it's just proof of baby.
