Migrating from TC to UC - will I be left without money for a period?

I have 2 disabled children and currently receive carers allowance, income support and tax credits. Both children receive DLA. I have just received the letter with a deadline for applying for Universal Credit. It says TC will stoop immediately on making the claim and IS after 2 weeks. Does this mean I will be left with only Carers and the dc DLA for a significant amount of time?

It will be 5 weeks until your first uc payment. You can get an advance though you then have to pay that back out of your award over the next 12 months
