So talk to your bank?

HolyFalseEquivalencyBatman · 08/05/2024 10:29

Ask Amazon to re issue it as your bank have advised. If it’s been rejected then Amazon still have it.

Stugglingwithson2023 · 08/05/2024 10:47

I have spoken to my bank and amozen. Amozen said everything is fine and Bank reply with the above screenshot:(

At first you said Amazon said they issued it so it’s not their fault. Then you said Amazon have said everything is fine - that sounds like two different things.

The screenshot from the Amazon app shows that the refund was declined - you need Amazon to clarify whether the refund will pushed through automatically again, similar to the way they’d attempt to take payment multiple times over the course of a few days if a payment didn’t go through.

Stugglingwithson2023 · 08/05/2024 14:26

The screenshot was from my bank not Amozen. They have issued it but bank declined it. Just going to leave it anyway.
I dont have the fight in me just now

Amazon need to reissue the refund

Stugglingwithson2023 · 08/05/2024 14:39

I know but ive spoken to them a few times now and they said everything is fine. She even said im going to speak slowly and simple.😪

If it's causing issues can't you ask for an Amazon credit note instead?

OP - what is the conversation around ‘everything is fine’. Did the rep from Amazon clarify that they think the refund has processed on their end, or that the refund will be pushed through automatically in a timeframe, or that the refund is being manually processed again? What is their response to the fact that your bank has ‘declined’ the refund, and what is your banks reasoning for declining the refund?

It’s over 100 quid you’re hardly going to ‘leave it’, just keep contacting them until it’s sorted.

purplecorkheart · 08/05/2024 15:24

Could you ask Amazon to issue the refund to your amazon account?

Ivyy · 08/05/2024 15:27

Go on to chat with Amazon customer service and ask them to refund your Amazon account instead as your bank isn't accepting it

purplecorkheart · 08/05/2024 15:29

Did you clarify with the bank what they mean when they say Amazon need to retry the payment with a different reference?

Bumblebeeinatree · 08/05/2024 15:34

Amazon probably have to refund to the account it came from, how can your bank decline a refund? Amazon should get the funds back so then ask for the refund to be processed again? Or it may appear in your Amazon account. Check your bank details on Amazon are exactly correct, initials or names, title or not, address correct. Banks can be really picky these days.

Stugglingwithson2023 · 08/05/2024 18:16

I've posted a screenshot of what bank said.
Amozen still saying everything fine and wont reissue or fund account as to them ive already had a refund from them.

Having similar with Amazon, phoned and said would refund twice and both have failed - the credit and the transfer to bank. Only £15 at least. I guess chargeback maybe one option.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 08/05/2024 18:36

AMAZON OP

marshmallowfinder · 08/05/2024 18:39

Stugglingwithson2023 · 08/05/2024 18:45

It's absolutely not that big a deal. It's just really difficult to concentrate and read with it spelt like that. Nothing to do with feeling special/better.

Ask Amazon for 22 digit ARN & p give this to the bank to locate the refund - problem solved

The screenshot does not say what you write.

Amazon does not say everything is fine. They say the transaction was refused by Mastercard.

Amazon then say you need to contact the seller directly and tell them to "redo the refund with new authorisation details". If you go to your Amazon purchase history you can "contact seller" and start that conversation.

Wafflefudge · 08/05/2024 19:45

@HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks the screenshot is from the bank not amazon.
The bank are telling her the payment has been refused and that amazon need to reissue.
But amazon are saying they don't need to.

I'd go back to amazon with screenshot of message from bank if you haven't already done so.

AtomicBlondeRose · 08/05/2024 19:50

It’s pretty clear what’s happening - the bank say go back to the seller (Amazon), they think OP is complaining the refund hasn’t been issued and are treating her like an idiot patiently explaining that it has, except somehow missing the part where the bank declined it.

You do need to keep on at Amazon I’m afraid. Maybe write out your key points in bullet points so it can get through to them.

like:

  • I agree the refund HAS been processed
  • however I do NOT have the money because my bank declined it
  • there will be a record of this happening, therefore you have to reissue the refund to me or you will still have my money.

I do find as soon as anything other than the expected happens that chat/customer service can be very unhelpful so you do have to keep trying and hope you get someone who catches on.

tridento · 08/05/2024 20:38

Why do you keep calling it Amozen?

Says she/he has difficulty with spelling. Managed to spell everything else correctly though.
