Specsavers is all set up in Dunelm for the morning- she's taken her big yellow suitcase to show off what you can win

YouOKHun · 01/05/2024 12:49

I watched part of the CM’s “exciting” Live via Speccy who was transmitting it live with irritating ‘this is amazing’ interjections. I wasn’t sure if I’d missed the big announcement because I was wondering if they were going to roll out the referral programme like they did in the US and Canada using Amazon and that question was asked on a thread but not answered by them. I thought I’d missed something but I think the inconsequential box of products WAS the big announcement wasn’t it?

I tuned in just before the CM emphasised the importance of achieving 4CCs every single month and ultimately whatever they announce it all leads back to ‘bots you need to keep buying product’. It’s all smoke and mirrors, making them believe that they’re part of something special and that they are being given something. It’s as if none of them can see what’s being taken from them while they are all hypnotised by positivity.

2jags is obviously being relied upon. Something tells me that Yawn was meant to be there and I wonder if that was one of the things that got cancelled on Monday so she isn’t too visible while the focus is on income claims.

YouOKHun · 01/05/2024 13:06

@ticktock19 I’ve had some correspondence with Dunelm HQ this morning and they are going to look into it and speak to the store manager. Too late to stop today. I’ve said that something so exploitative shouldn’t be allowed to use any Dunelm premises to misrepresent itself as a community service or local business. Nor should Dunelm put its customers into a misleading situation which might be borrowing Dunelm’s legitimacy to convince people it’s a safe bet.

These big stores need to be very careful who they allow to set up shop on their premises under the community or local biz banner. I have been hassled in B&Q before by a UW manhun who nearly ended up with a curtain pole where the sun don’t shine.

ticktock19 · 01/05/2024 13:42

Oh that's perfect @YouOKHun, excellent work by you and I wholeheartedly agree with everything you have said to them. It really is a disgrace that she's allowed to be there.
I had a similar run in with a couple of mouthy UW blokes in Tescos. I called them a pyramid scam which they weren't impressed with and then made a direct complaint to customer services too.

Spongebobette · 01/05/2024 13:56

Well done @YouOKHun

let us know what they say

Yawn is hysterically exited about the prospect of being “in at the start “ of FL’s repackaging exercise.
I really can’t see how this is different.
I suspect that it is costing more to ship the gloop from the US than they make in profit. We know that the UK et al have dropped out of top ten so sales are low.
The facial/cosmetic products are, perhaps , more attractive than the gloop and household cleaning products. And also more affordable in a competitive market.
We are all suckers for an anti wrinkle product.
FL have realised that they have to narrow the product range in the UK to improve business.

I wish I could remember the name of an article I read on the dark side of parent influencers. A mix of naive women who were horrified when they realised what was happening with photos of their daughters doing dance and gym that the posted on open profiles, and mothers who were actively providing "content" for online predators. Not I hasten to add that any of the bots are doing the latter but it was a terrifying read.

I remembered the article - for those who have New York Times access https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/22/us/instagram-child-influencers.html. Definitely needs a trigger warning though for CSA and grooming.

Re Utility Warehouse.
I used to volunteer a lot for Guide Dogs. Our local group was at a village fair. On our stall were a few GuideDog users (ie visually impaired) with their dogs.
A very persistent UW rep was trying to flog raffle tickets to win a car.
One of our guide dog users to him…..” why are you asking the man with the guide dog?”

MrsDilligaf · 01/05/2024 18:13

I might be wrong but aren't all these existing products? I'm sure they have been around for a while.

Surely if you were going to launch a "new chapter" you'd release new products and not cobble together some random odd bits?

From a a skincare addict perspective, the packaging is very bland (which is mot a nad thing - I tend to go for minimal packaging anyway) but it certainly doesn't look like a "range"

MrsDilligaf · 01/05/2024 18:24

I tuned in just before the CM emphasised the importance of achieving 4CCs every single month and ultimately whatever they announce it all leads back to ‘bots you need to keep buying product’

So basically "please make sure you buy 600 quids worth" every month. That's a lot of retail customers. All products ( FLP or not) have huge mark up because companies want profit. When it comes to it FLP products are pricey (because they need to generate commission) and to convince customers to buy beyond pity sales, they need to work (which they don't).

Spongebobette · 01/05/2024 18:26

Correct me if I’m wrong but what has been launched to great excitement is a new starter pack/ business in a box?

so it’s targeted at new recruits?

they are expecting more people to sign up just because they’ve altered the contents of the starter pack?

Nurse, who is back working again, part time, is already moaning about how awful her job is. Will I open a book on how long this job lasts?

YouOKHun · 01/05/2024 18:56

Thanks. We will see re Dunelm but I’d be surprised if there is any direct feedback. It got me thinking about those big retailers and my B&Q/UW experience and I came upon this rather depressing UW page (and there are more than these retailers listed on their site). I never set foot in big retailers these days so have no idea about the mutually beneficial arrangements in place. Not that FLP has or will ever have the coziness that UW has formed with some stores.

What’s the betting “Bruce” sells as well as reviews UW?

YouOKHun · 01/05/2024 19:14

@Spongebobette yep, I think that’s a pretty good sum up of the exciting new chapter. They have taken a starter kit and swopped things around a bit. How much is the kit? Rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic is yet again a suitable phrase. What’s baffling is why people can’t see this and why they can’t see that the message is the same as it ever was, ‘buy more product, recruit more people to be their own best customer’.

I’m sure the emphasis on skincare is more appropriate but who are these customers who are going to buy a £90 Collagen product from an obscure brand with no visibility when the market is flooded with cheaper products which have more visibility and are easier to buy and have much better marketing behind them and much more appeal? And who will be buying a £90 every month? Headband for starters.

There will be a few more Lemmings over the cliff in the next month or so but not enough to save southern Europe’s very own David Brent and his scammy sidekicks.

Spongebobette · 01/05/2024 19:50

A Greek David Brent? What might he be called I wonder?

Blimey Speccy is off to Warwick tonight, she’s certainly a loyal, busy little bot

Spongebobette · 01/05/2024 20:01

I watched the first few minutes of the CM’s video and started to count how many times he used the word excited/ exciting but had to stop after I reached eleventy billion in the first 5 mins

the 5 habits of successful bots … be a product of the product and be 4CC active every month seem key. SPEND MONEY ON PRODUCTS

OP posts:
Twentytwentyhindsight · 01/05/2024 20:24

Completely different tack- Bruv seems to be on the move again.

notgettinganyyounger · 01/05/2024 20:28

I see Yawn went for a dog walk and met '70 year old Sue' and they chatted for an hour. Just the one guess what she discussed.
Poor Sue, she's going to have to change her dog walking route now before she is the next recruit.

Angrymum22 · 01/05/2024 20:48

Isn’t it a shame that she has to give a life history of everyone she meets. Why is Sue not just a “neighbour” for the benefit of her audience? It’s tragic that every relationship she forms is likely to be blighted by her need to recruit.
We know where this new friendship is going just by the way she introduces her to her fans.

Angrymum22 · 01/05/2024 20:52

And if Specsaver and 2jags are at Warwick, where there is a much larger crowd, what happened to Yawn’s invite, it’s not like she’s busy with only working 10hrs a week?

YouOKHun · 01/05/2024 21:50

Meanwhile Yawn has posted a clip on her Insta stories which is a short film of her scrolling through everyone’s name in her team commenting on yesterday’s lacklustre bankruptcy-in-a-box announcement. All names clearly visible. Obviously having a night off from income claims to breach people’s privacy instead.

hurlyburlygirly · 01/05/2024 22:28

They've all posted that. There's a sudden trend of them all posting exactly the same shite all of a sudden. It really doesn't help the credibility.
