Anyone successfully cashed old Premium Bonds

Bluebella27 · 10/04/2024 19:17

My late grandmother bought me some premium bonds years and years ago. I've no paperwork for them due to house moves etc has anyone been in the same situation and managed to claim them back?
Thank you

NS&I have a form you can fill in to trace lost bonds.

pishwetspring · 10/04/2024 19:23

Yes I've done it for my Mum. As PP said there is a form on the NS&I website. Fill it in and send it off. Was really simple although I did have the Premium Bond numbers (but no paperwork or anything else).

Yea, we had some bought in the early 70’s, as a gift from grandparents, which we used the online form for and have got added to the ones bought in the last few years

Thanks everyone.. can I ask if it took long to hear back once you sent the form off?

We filled out the form but they said there's nothing in them to cash out.

Bluebella27 · 10/04/2024 19:36

@buswankerz oh no! I hadn't even thought that might be a scenario!

Edited

As it's run on behalf of the government they do everything the hard way. My mum did get some replacements years ago whilst they were still based in Blackpool

It’s an online form to trace old bonds i.e have it confirmed you own them, but you have to write to them to get them added to your online bond record. I assume it’s the same if you want to cash old bonds in. I was a bit Hmm that I have my old paper bonds with all the info, same address etc but I still have to write to them.
