HSBC - cancelled Direct debit

Hi everyone,
I'm in divorce process with my husband. He agreed to help me with some bills and set up direct debit for water from his own account.
However, I just realised that I cancelled it too late. HSBC says that DD must be cancelled 2 working days before due date or it still MAY be taken. My payment is due on Tuesday and I cancelled it today.
Does anyone have any experience regarding this? My ex husband receive an email that his DD is all sorted, date with first payment, etc. I'm just wondering if there is a chance that they won't take payment from my account?
I would really appreciate any experiences shared... Thank you

It will still be taken from your account, due to the bank holidays if you’ve cancelled today then you’ve literally not got a single working day before payment is due.

From previous experience, I would presume that cancelling a DD today for Tuesday would be too late. There are no working days between now and then so the collection process should have been started on Thursday, the last working day before the due date.

If it does go through, you can just call your bank and they'll reverse it

Call HSBC, they can reverse it.

If you do nothing now, the payment will be taken on Tuesday. Cancelling the DD mandate won't stop a payment already in process which this will be.

Call HSBC and they can see and reverse the pending payment. If you get through to someone who refuses, insist, demand a manager and insist again. They 100% can do it.

If your ex husband has set up a new DD then the old one from your account will have been cancelled by the water company.
It should not be possible to have 2 live DDs on an account.
