Help with Maternity Allowance

Hi all, I'm looking for som help/advice.

I have to apply for maternity allowance due to not being eligable for SMP (I started the job already pregnant but didn't know ha!) I got my MATB1 form at 25 weeks pregnant from my midwife and sent this to my employer straight away. They confirmed I definitely need to apply for MA and I filled out my maternity form with my manager which just confirms when I plan to go on Maternity etc. I've been pushing for my SMP1 form that I need from head office/payroll but they're being very vague and taking their time! I've requested a temporary form from HMRC which will take up to 10 working days to get to me so that I can send off my application.

I am 27 weeks today and plan to go on maternity at 36 weeks. I will get my last payslip from work at the end of May which will survive me through June, so technically don't need my first payment until the end of June (if we're talking about it being a months worth). What I'm stressing about is on the Gov website it says it is reccommended to apply at least 3 months before you want your first payment in order to recieve the full amount you're entitled to. Because I have to wait from this SMP1 form I probably won't get my application sent out for another week or two (thanks to bank holiday), is this going to effect the amount of money I get? Is this going to delay when I get my first payment?

PLEASE someone explain this all to me because I am very stressed and confused by it all!

Thank you
