Car bump advice

I backed into someone while reversing out of a parking space last week. It was the gentlest bump but was outside a house so didn’t want to just drive off despite the fact I couldn’t see any damage on my car or theirs. I went into ask if car was theirs and they came out to look. They said a black mark on their bumper wasn’t there before so I had no choice but the give them my number etc.
They have now texted me saying they have a touch up estimate for over £200. My father is an ex car dealer and when I showed him the photos he said it was highly unlikely I’d caused it as there was no sign of any green paint on it and no sign of any white paint on my green car. He says I should context my insurance and let them sort it out.

I’m worried because I’ve admitted bumping into them etc. I just have to pay now. What would you do?

Don't hand over £200 that’s for sure, if you think you could of done the damage I’d ask them to send you a pic (when the works done) of the invoice with the garages bank details so you don’t have to give them any cash.

You can go through insurance but be aware that will end up costing you significantly more than £200

agree that if you go through insurance it will cost you a lot more over time.
