car insurance query

Is it possible to get car insurance for just a few weeks? A friend is losing his driving license soon (12 points) and needs his new car insuring before he does but sees no point in getting it for a year.
A nightmare I know but thought I'd ask

Have you phoned them up and asked them?

Got to run but if you google 'car insurance for a day', there is a company which does only short term insurance, iirc it's up to 6 wks.

im sure computer quote does pay as you go car insurance... (in blocks of a month at a time)

might find it difficult GETTING insurance with 12 points though

I am not sure he is going to be able to get insurance...with 12 points he is in effect uninsurable
